I invite you to join me in wrapping up 2015, and getting ready for 2016. By the way, 2015 IS ending, and 2016 IS coming – whether you are ready or not! So, let’s prepare for it.
I got an idea from my friend and mentor, John C. Maxwell, several years ago. To be honest, I haven’t been super faithful in applying that idea in the past, but next week I will invest significant time thinking into what happened in 2015, and planning what I desire to happen in 2016. I hope you will join me in this journey.
Here’s the idea. Review your 2015 calendar. Identify key events. Evaluate the results. Some were great, some were good, some – you just wish you could have a “do over.” Think into what you did that was great, good, or not so good. Ask yourself what you did? how you did it? what could you have done better? What can you learn to make more things great in 2016?
Once you have reviewed 2015, preview 2016’s calendar. What daily habits do you need to add, drop, or improve? Remember success usually boils down to what you do daily. Be intentional! Put those daily habits into your calendar.
Next, look at major events that are upcoming, or that you desire to happen, in 2016. What do you need to know, to make these events great? What do you need to do, to make the events great? Who you need to invite to help you make them great?
Now, who do you need to add value to during 2016? Think into what you want that to look like. TIP: Some people are interested in growing, and some are committed to growing. Pick those who are committed to growing, and do things that will add value to them. As my uncle Jimmy used to say, “hunt with the dogs who will hunt, and don’t drag those who don’t along.” Trite, but true. Even Jesus Christ couldn’t help those who were not invested in getting better.
Well, there you have it. My GIFT to you! Let me know if it fits.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas, and a Significant New Year.
Danny
